A Message From our CPC President
Hey family,
It’s time for CPC’s winter fundraising appeal. As the end of the year approaches, I know there are many funding appeals, especially this year. Please, indulge me for a moment while I share what CPC means to me.
The word community gets used often. But for me, community evokes neighborhoods, like the ones we have here in Baltimore. In Baltimore, neighborhoods have deep, rich histories and provide a connection between the past and the future. Not just an address, neighborhoods in Baltimore are the tapestry of our lives. Village, stand up!
Tucked away in Lauraville, CPC is an amalgam of everything that makes a Baltimore neighborhood special. It’s a safe place to be, meaning you can take your vest off for a moment and rest. We take it for granted, but a quiet yard to spend an evening with friends is rarer than you’d think.
It’s a place to get a meal that’s made with love by Amelia. To grab a drink from Dyson and our other outstanding bartenders. It’s a place to flirt with a cutie or catch up with friends. It’s a family dinner. It’s a place where it’s ok to chill when your social battery is low. It’s the neighborhood where you can feel your joy, your celebrations, even your grief.
Cool, right? Well, like any neighborhood in Baltimore, it’s a beautiful complexity built on a fragile structure. And, it takes money to maintain, cause the grind don’t stop.
As interim president and treasurer, I see firsthand how hard it is to keep the club healthy and thriving. I mentioned the love Amelia puts into her food; that’s just a reflection of the love equity she puts into every part of CPC. That effort is backed by CPC’s staff, who always hold it down. Then there’s the board, which shares its time and talents to advance CPC’s vision.
Most importantly, there’s you. Our members and benefactors who are here with us in the weird and wonderful spot called CPC.
We need you. I’m about to be real, we need your dollars. A donation to CPC is a direct investment supporting the club, its survival, and its growth.
But most importantly, your support allows the CPC to survive and thrive without compromising our ethics and values, a difficult task (but not impossible) in today’s world. Any support you can provide is valued; truly, no amount is too small. Thanks to the generosity of our Secret Santa, your gift to CPC will be doubled, up to $5,000.
