Our membership tries its best to embrace the wonderfully diverse spectrum of identities, experiences, and expressions that make our Baltimore truly unique. We’re a social club for the weird folks, the messy folks, the creative souls, and everyone who defies easy categorization. Here, we recognize that each of us brings our own quirks, stories, and idiosyncrasies to the table.  This is a space where our collective weirdness isn’t just accepted—it’s actively nurtured and celebrated.

As adults, many of us are juggling the pressures of society and capitalism, constantly grinding to keep up. Our community understands the importance of slowing down, relaxing, and just being. Sometimes, the best way to recharge is simply sitting in a chair in the yard, hanging out near people you like, and not feeling the need to do much at all.

Our Thoughts of Conflict

The simple truth is that conflict within a community is inevitable and normal. We all carry our unique traumas, perspectives, privileges, and filters into every interaction we have, and it’s only natural that we’ll sometimes clash with others who are doing the same. It’s unrealistic to expect that we’ll always show up as our best selves, and at times, we may unintentionally hurt or misunderstand each other. At CPC, however, we’re committed to handling these conflicts in a respectful and private manner—our aim is to navigate these situations thoughtfully, without inviting or involving spectators.

If you, as a member, experience conflict with another member and would like help from CPC leadership to address the issue, we encourage you to reach out. You can notify the leadership team by emailing us at cliftonpleasureclub@gmail.com, or by speaking directly to any Board Member with whom you feel comfortable. We recognize that every conflict is different and requires a unique approach. It’s our club’s value to intervene and disrupt problematic behaviors and our leadership team is emotionally intelligent, compassionate, and ready to help navigate the situation in a way that is considerate.

We also understand that some conflicts extend beyond our role as a Club. Paying $10 a month for membership does not entitle us to dictate how members live their personal lives, and our organization won’t pass judgment on the individual choices of our members. While we value the character of our members, and repeated harmful behavior will naturally lead to our community not wanting to interact with someone, we also acknowledge that humans are flawed and messy. CPC is a community where we accept these imperfections, and our priority is to address conflict with care, understanding, and respect.

Community Joy

In a world flooded with negativity, finding joy is an act of resistance. At CPC, we believe in the radical power of joy as a means of healing, affirming our identities, and celebrating life. Hosting an event here isn’t just about gathering people—it’s about creating an environment that uplifts and fosters community in a positive and meaningful way.
