From the Secretary’s Desk – April 26, 2023

I am often asked, what is one thing I can do to help this space grow. The answer is so simple.

Order ahead.

Food costs have skyrocketed in the last year, and wasting food is wasting money.

Now we know there are lots of reasons you can’t order ahead; you may not be sure if you are coming, how many people are coming, what or how much you want, etc. For those times, we always prepare a little extra.

However, if you could order ahead the times it makes sense to do so, we ask that you take advantage of the website to order.

We are quickly running into the “How much food do we have to prepare, really?” game and frankly, everyone loses here.

When we have too much food, we have wasted precious resources to buy and prepare that food, we have staffed for what we think the headcount will be, and we have already spent money hoping that people will show up.

When we run out – well, you don’t get any, even if you preordered. We can refund your money if we run out, but we can’t go buy more food and prepare it. That’s a bummer for everyone.

During COVID, this club really pitched in and made sure to preorder, it was a cost saving measure that helped us ride out the pandemic. Since then, it has fallen off.

Now we are asking you to pick that habit up once more. Again, there will usually be extra, so if you didn’t pre-order don’t let that stop you.

Also, if you pre-order and can’t make it, just send us an email and we will refund you.

Let’s wrap up with a nice list of reason why you should preorder;

  • It saves money
  • It makes sure you get fed
  • It helps us staff appropriately
  • It makes Amelia less stressed
  • It helps plan out kitchen times (remember the club rents out the kitchen, and prep time is based one needs of each chef) and last,
  • because we said ‘please’

OK, maybe not the last one.
