Winter Fundraising Update
Seasons Greetings! I’d like to share an update about our Winter Fundraiser.
The goal of the CPC Winter Fundraiser has always been survival. We’ve set our goals based on the money we owe at the end of the year, be it back sales tax, overdue water bills, or fees from the accountant. It’s ALWAYS been about paying off debt, never getting ahead; reacting to emergencies, worrying about what-ifs, and keeping our fingers crossed. There are so many things that go wrong, break, and have to be upgraded in a Club of our size; we have a never-ending list of maintenance items and crises. This is the reality of many small businesses and organizations and it’s important for me to be transparent about it.
I must also extend my eternal gratitude to all the members and guests reading this. Every time you donate any amount to a fundraiser, come have a meal, donate to Feed It Forward, bring a friend to the Club, anything like that, it helps keep the lights on and it keeps us able to build a container for our strong, supportive, and resilient community to inhabit. A bit selfishly, I might add that I get to do my dream job every day because of the generosity and enthusiasm of all of our Weird and Wonderful humans.
We are so honored and grateful to announce that in addition to our Secret Santa matching donor, another large donor has stepped up for us. Their contribution allows us to receive ALL THE MATCHING FUNDS from our Secret Santa. Our SURVIVAL GOAL has been reached and we are able to pay off all of our outstanding debts. We are going to keep our fundraiser open, however, because the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community for safety and fellowship and mutual aid are at an all time high. Our club is in position to begin a growth phase and it would be amazing to keep the momentum going and begin some of the projects we’ve been dreaming about.
At this point in the fundraiser, we have a chance to level up to (bum, bum, bum) A CONTINGENCY FUND! Additional funds that we raise in the Winter Fundraiser will be put toward our “wish list” of big dreams and upgrades as well as building a badly needed rainy day fund. We realize that so many people are struggling and there are many requests for donations out there. No one’s judging you if your life circumstances don’t permit you to donate, but if you have the ability, please consider CPC in your holiday giving.
